Alto saxophonist Arthur Blythe first made a name for himself in his native Los Angeles in pianist/composer Horace Tapscott’s band. He later made his way to New York as a member of Chico Hamilton’s quintet. We first met when I produced Chico’s Blue Note album “The Players.”
